The Advancement Of Live Satellite Maps

Nowadays it seems that barely a day goes by when technology has not taken a small leap or. It is making enormous improvements everyday in the way we view our world. Almost every year the computer technology promises to bring us something new for feasting our eyes on. Satellite technology is one such technology that has literally changed the way we look at the world. Today in this article we will take a look at the exciting world of live satellite maps and know how applications are being produced by using satellite image data to produce current satellite maps, real time satellite map, satellite street map, satellite aerial map etc.

The most striking thing about any current satellite map is that it has such high level of details. If you compare any earlier version of live satellite map with the updated satellite maps then you will be able to comprehend the vastness of technology advancement in terms of satellite technology.

The first ever satellite images were produced somewhere in the 1950s by a Russian satellite called Sputnik. Though these images seemed nothing less than miracle in those days but compared to recent satellite maps they can be called little more than some rough image that gave nothing more than just a basic idea of what we already know about the way the earth appears from outer space.

Infact even by the late 1970s, an era when technology had come a long way from where it was, the live satellite images produced could not be really called as spectacular in terms of detailing and description. The only main improvement worthy noting was that these images had now color. It was only in the 1990s, that the details of satellite maps started becoming amazing. The primitive form of satellite maps showed our globe as not more than some blurred sphere whereas the recent real time satellite maps has such precise details that you can actually view an object on the ground, which is not more than 2ft.

Thus we see how satellite imagery technology started with blurs and how today it has become so powerful that it is having a strong impact on our everyday life. From predicting weather accurately to locating and providing details about any location on the earth to better television reception to excellent phone communication. Satellite technology has really become ubiquitous. With many websites claiming that they will soon launch real time and interactive satellite maps and imagery, we can never predict where this technology will take humankind. If such progress continues it won't be a distant day when people stop taking road maps when they go and just rely completely on satellite maps to guide them. Till then, let's wait and watch.
